It has been observed that there is a very strong connection between training & employee motivation. My experiences of around twenty years working in Human Resource Department, makes me confident to say that for any kind of work, there has to be certain kind of motivation attached to it, else the results are not fruitful. Training program is one of the way to enhance employee motivation and my experiences allows me to state that in order to maintain employee motivation.

  • Training program should be conducted at periodic intervals

  • Employees should be given exposure to new developments in their fields by sending the employees for attending workshops outside the organization or by calling external faculties in the organization

  • Training program should be used as an opportunity to invite suggestions, ideas or opinions from the workers so as to find solution to a particular problem in the work-place, to bring about change in the work process or to promote productivity

  • Personality & Leadership development programs should be undertaken so as to make employees understand importance of attitudes, values in the work place, self-reliance in taking appropriate decisions and proper implementation of skills in work process;

  • Supervisors play a very important role in motivating employees at the shop floor level, and they should be given training in counselling skills, and thereby establishing counselling services for workers.
